Persian and exotic cats are very delicate pets, so before deciding to buy one, you should know the following about their care:

  • You should comb regularly to avoid knots and excessive ingestion of hair during cleaning. Persians and exotics require the same care, although the exotic does not knot as much as the Persian.

  • Bathe with water and cat shampoo at least once a month or every 2 months, and dry very well. We recommend the Biogance brand, but you can use any but for cats.

  • Cut nails every two weeks, very carefully.

  • In case of constant tearing, clean the eyes with an infusion of matico or suitable liquids, such as Pretty Eyes by Artero and cotton petals or gauze, as many times as necessary. In case of oxidation stains, there are specific products on the market to remove them such as the Eye Envy line, which includes eye cleanser.

  • Constantly check that your cat does not have traces of feces in its hair or feet. For this, it is recommended to trim the hair around the anus.

  • Clean ears every two weeks with cooked water or a similar liquid such as Clean Ears from Biogance or Aurigel from Artero.

  • Continuously check the skin for any anomaly such as ringworm (fungi) due to humidity, since there is a certain genetic predisposition of the Persian race, which can appear especially during the first year of life before some loss of defenses.

  • Provide Premium food, always fresh water and regular visits to the vet for vaccinations or deworming throughout the life of your pet. Some recommended brands are Royal Canin kitten, Purina Proplan kitten, Nutrience Original, BritCare, among others. There is currently a wide variety of super Premium foods according to your pocket and your pet's needs.

  • You will need to have a scraper to protect your furniture, and sometimes even your plants, although it is generally not a destructive breed.

  • Provide toys to distract your pet to keep her active and happy.

  • Provide fresh water in a container  ceramic or metal, or drinking fountain next to your food. These should be located away from the sandbox. Plastic utensils are not recommended, as they could generate an allergy.
